| Who: | any student who: • has completed PMA 12 (or is currently taking it) • and has a strong math background. |
| What: | will I need: • Computer with high speed access to the internet. .....- Must be a reasonably new computer. .....- Must have an up to date web browser. .....- Must have an up to date version of Java installed. .....- Must have speakers and a microphone or a headset with a microphone available. You have to be able to hear the lesson and talk to your teacher and fellow students. • One of the following ways to submit your homework: .....- Access to a fax machine to fax in your work. .....- Access to a scanner to scan and submit your work as an attachment to email. .....- Access to a tablet that allows you to do your work directly on a computer screen using tablet accessible software that can save files as a .pdf or .jpg. Submit your work as an attachment to an email • Calculus textbook (students have to purchase this text). .....- Click on the link on this WIKI's front page to access information about the textbook and purchase options). |
| When: | • Classes start Feb. 3 / Tuesday & Thursday from 4:00 to 5:30 pm Pacific Standard Time. • Tutorials – Monday & Wednesday from 4:00 to 5:30 pm Pacific Standard Time. .....- (Students who live in an area on Mountain Standard Time will have classes and tutorials from 5:00 to 6:30 pm until the time change occurs in early March at which time classes will be from 4:00 to 5:30 pm.) .....- Except for some Monday tutorials, it is required that all students attend and participate in all classes and tutorials. |
| Where: | • All classes and tutorials will be online using whiteboard software called Elluminate and supporting websites. The Elluminate Applet is downloaded to your computer from the following web site. When the web page has loaded put your first and last name in the name field and click on the ‘LogIn’ button. The Java Applet will begin to load. You should see a pop up window that asks you to trust the Java Applet being loaded. Click the Trust Button. (This Applet is a small applet which does not affect your computer in a negative way.) The Elluminate Live Java Applet will then load and log you into the session automatically. You are now ready to participate in the class. |
