    Notes From NBCDES

    notes from NBCDES.png

NBCDES remembers the past, reflects on the present and thinks about the future sacrifices of the men and women in service. We have been honored to have members of the Canadian Armed Forces speak to us about their experiences. It is something else we are thankful for here. Last November Sgt. Gregory Bulter of the 3rd Intelligence Company, Halifax, Nova Scotia, spoke to us about the life of a communications research operator. Last Remembrance Day Sgt. Renay Groves of CFS Leitrim, Ottawa, Ontario, gave a special presentation. And to continue our quest for understanding and help us in this endeavor MCpl Safire will be speaking to us this November.

Based on these presentations we want to show our appreciation for all that they do. Sgt. Groves told us about her project “Notes From Home”, which is a scrapbook full of signatures and messages from Canadians to our troops serving in Afghanistan. She inspired all of us to take action and show our appreciation! So here is our chance to write our messages to the men and women who serve. Post a comment with your own personal message here and this link will be forwarded to service men and women around the country. Let everyone know, that here at NBCDES...Peace River North.... British Columbia... Yukon..... CANADA.. that we remember and that we never forget!

    To All Canadian Forces Members:

I would like to express my deepest thanks for all that you sacrifice for others. My father was in the military for 25 years, he loved his job but it was never easy for him. Being away from all that you know and love is a difficult task. You are our unsung heroes. Your ability to put the good or needs of others before yourself is what makes you a soldier and makes me proud to be Canadian.

I would like to share a quote with you that my father shared with me. It helped me understand his feelings and my own.

"If I decide to make a career in the army, he said, I would never be rich,
but I would live one of the most satisfying lives there was to be had. Then
he warned me that satisfaction would come at a great cost to me and any
family I might have. I should never expected to be thanked; a soldier, if he
was going to be content, had to understand that no civilian, no government,
sometimes not even the army itself, would recognize the true nature of the
    scarifies he made."

    Shake Hands With The Devil
    LGen Romeo Dallaire

You are thanked. Your gifts will not go unrecognized. We will remember your sacrifices.

    Sincerely,

Samantha Butler AKA Ms. B :O)

( that was my mom........) It is a really great thing you guys do. I actually wrote an essay on remembrance day, and it really helped me to think about why we have remembrance day and why you guys are still fighting. My parents say that if we don't fight in Afghanistan they will eventually come over here and we will have another world war. I think some people gave a bit, but in the end the only thing you can give is your life. The buck stops there. What situation would I be in if Hitler wasn't defeated? Would I be a slave or go to school? I know freedom means having a chioce. And because you are over there, I can chose to be a average person, or I can do something that helps. After all, the chioce is mine because of you. And you guys chose to help so that I could choose to help. So thank you, and you can wait for a letter and cookies from me!

Thank you, to all those men and women who served to free our and many other countries from distress, pain and fear. you are great people, greater than even Wayne Gretzky, Sidney Crosby and Elvis Presley. You are great among all people, never giving up, never leaving behind and always helping. Without you guys I probably would not be sitting in my warm cozy house right now. I poor all my respects and many others to whomever this message gets sent and all the people that are fighting along there side. Thank you.
