I have been a teacher at the Northern BC Distance Education School in Fort St. John for the past ten years. Teaching at NBCDES continues to be an exciting learning experience! When I started in Distance Education, our computers were mostly used for record keeping. Now we use technology to interact with many of our students on a daily basis. Over the years, my students have lived everywhere from next door in Fort St. John to as far away as Dawson City in the Yukon to the British Virgin Islands and Qatar in the Middle East. This year, I am again teaching Kindergarten to Grade 3 and have students from all over BC and the Yukon.

My teaching experience before NBCDES was mostly as a classroom teacher in the primary grades. I also taught enrichment classes and spent time as a learning assistant. For ten years of my career, I worked as a teacher-librarian at an elementary school as well as at2 Jr. High schools.

My husband and I moved to Fort St. John as beginning teachers. We thought we would like to explore the North for a couple of years but we fell in love with the Peace River area and stayed to make our home and raise our 4 children here. We do like to spend Spring Break in California or Mexico though!
